ROCKPORT'S 500-ACRE ANNEX

ROCKPORT (Corpus Christi Caller-Times) – City officials have voted to annex 500 acres near the Aransas County Airport.

Rockport officials had hoped to annex about 767 acres, but some of the acreage fell under Fulton’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. Rockport suggested swapping for land along Fulton Beach Rd., but Fulton officials rejected the proposal.

“I’d rather have had the whole thing,” said Rockport Major Todd Pearson. “It doesn’t make sense to have an airport in two jurisdictions.”
